MOTHERS IN BLACK
THEY CAN'T GET THEIR CHILDREN BACK
THEIR LIVES HAVE BEEN SHATTERED
BY THE WAR MACHINE

THEIR DAUGHTERS AND SONS
THEIR PRECIOUS ONES
WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN TAKEN
BY THE WAR MACHINE

NOW ANOTHER WAR'S IN THE MAKIN'
YOU'RE HEADED FOR IRAQ
YOU WANNA TEACH 'EM A LESSON
SO YOU'RE GONNA ATTACK

YOU'RE FIRIN' UP
YOU'RE STARTIN' UP
THE WAR MACHINE

MY ONLY SON
YEAH WELL HE'S MY ONLY ONE
SO DON'T YOU TAKE HIM
AND THROW HIM IN YOUR WAR MACHINE

DEMONSTRATIONS 'CROSS THE COUNTRY
MOTHERS PROTESTIN' IN THE STREETS
WOMEN RALLYIN' TOGETHER
IN PURSUIT OF PEACE

THEIR DAUGHTERS AND SONS
ARE THEIR PRECIOUS ONES
AND THEY DON'T WANNA LOSE 'EM
IN THE WAR MACHINE

WELL WE CAN DO BETTER
LET'S STOP THE WAR MACHINE
STOP...
WELL WE CAN DO BETTER
LET'S STOP THE WAR MACHINE
I SAID WE CAN DO BETTER
LET'S STOP!

“War Machine” came into existence on the weekend of the peace demonstration in Washington DC in January 2003.

It was an emotional response on my part to the events that were unfolding at the time.

My son was the inspiration.

I was just starting to record a full-length CD with a projected release date in 2004, but after playing this song for a few audiences, I decided that it couldn't wait until next year to be heard.

I went into the studio with June Millington at IMAeast in Goshen, MA, and recorded it as a single.

My vision for War Machine was completed with the addition of some sound effects & June's searing lead guitar.

Listen to this mother's powerful view on war...

you won't be disappointed!
